  1. Good power for the buck

This turbo is awsome I put it on my basically stock sr and made 375 hp 384tq on about 18 psi this turbo rocks for the price

  2. Big Power For A Great Price!

Posted by Jesse Cendro on 26th Apr 2015

Brief history, Redtop SR, new valve job by CARisma, eagle rods and weisco pistons"stock bore and compression". Circuit sport 550 injectors, z32 maf ISIS 255 pump. s15 T28 ball bearing turbo gave out "destroyed" after a lot of play time. With my own tune, this ISIS turbo made 274HP at 8psi. 347HP at 20psi! Just shy of 350hp for 500-600$!! Remove my internals and put this on a stock SR and you will still be putting out BIG POWER!

  3. isis rs3871r turbo kit.

Posted by Israel nava on 12th Jun 2014

I got the kit when I started my red top build , about 3 years ago , and I am amazed that it is still running strong. Out of 3 years running strong ive recently only had to change the turbo to manifold gasket.

  4. Good bang for your buck

Ive had this turbo for a year now.Got tuned on the dyno not to long ago and made 320whp@15psi. s13 sr

  5. best bargin

Bolted to my s14 no issues except oil drain, which is easily modified to fit. Definitely need the 2 suggested couplings, turbo sits further forward and piping hits dipstick and ps lines if not used

  6. Strong Boost, Cheap Price!

Posted by Izento on 2nd Mar 2013

So, I've noticed there is no review for the CA18, well, let me enlighten you.

First I'll start off with the good.

    -Strong boost
    -Big difference from T25
    -Solidly built
-Life (somewhat irrelevant since I've only had it for 1 month and not daily driven)
-No stupid outlet or inlet bolt on pipe like SR T25 (screws CA18 owners)
    -Adjustable wastegate
-DIF CA18 (Bottom mount stock location) SS lines were a direct fit.
-Nice box with enough shock absorption.

-T28 oil drain pipe didn't fit. Had to modify drain.
-Late boost (4k rpm, somewhat later than expected. Turbos do not require break in procedures [cited by Garrett].)

    My engine related specs:
    -Tomei Poncams 256/256
    -Stock manifold
    -Stock downpipe
    -2.5 cat back

Experience of turbos on my engine:
    -CA18 T25

    Isis..... yah....

generally people feel a bit sketchy about this brand for anything major (their light weight pulleys are a hit). But in a world filled with economical depression and Chinese made craftsman tools sometimes you just don't have the scratch to go greddy or hks.
Enter the isis r3871 turbo charger for the rwd sr20det. the turbo uses the same specs as the 2871r with the price being cut due to the use of journal bearings as opposed to ball bearings.

the turbo uses a three inch inlet and .64 a/r exhaust side.

    the good :

*bolts up to your stock flange (t2)
    *internal waste gate
    *internal oil pressure regulator
*stock spring allows for right around 8lbs of boost which can be maintained with a bit of extra fuel pressure with out needing a tune right away
*on my set up it spools right at 2500 rpms at about 35% load
    * rated 380 whp with supporting mods and tuning
    * good to +- 22 lbs boost
    * water cooled (less time to cool the turbo and oil after a hard drive)
    *1 year warranty
    * best of all itll only run 500 bux for the turbo its self (up to 20% off military through enjuku)
    the bad:

*cant use stock lines (not a direct swap)
    *no one rebuilds these(see warranty)
*journal bearing means longer break in and less durable over time
    *not greddy, garrett or hks
*oil return fitting is straight which can cause your return line to kink(use stock one from a t25)

I ordered the turbo from enjuku racing by way of bg's recommendation. They rock them on their drift cars i should have no problems on the street.

I opened the box and was greeted by a very solid stout looking turbo. its not the biggest ive ever run but it looked like it would do very well for my purposes
i installed the ss lines first then mounted the manifold and O2 dump (gaskets and crush washers included )it was all very straight forward, made easier by my manifold being aftermarket and the 45 degree elbow for my intake. the only hitch was that the routed the intake into the path of my power steering lines so i used a 90* house and a coupler to move it around.

    Operation :
at first i felt like i had been robbed, i didnt try for full boost for 100 miles, then only quick pulls. the turbo was slow to react and wasn't really doing much until almost 4 grand. it wasnt until about 300 miles on the turbo that i finally saw what i was hoping for. the spool had moved left to about 3k much like the stock set up i was used to. the spool time was much faster to build boost and the power was ridiculous from a turbo that costs only 500 bux. i spent some time with a fpr and a wide band and dialed it in(42lbs at idle) gave me the best response with out drowning the spark after blow off or coming off the throttle. 2 week ends later i degreed my BC cam gears to about +8* and moved the spool down to about 2500 rpms. the turbo feels nice and responsive. If you want to slide around the gentle curve then give it some gas if not then dont. fuel economy varies by day (depending on driving styles) I can maintain about 25mpg hwy even with the mods.

Isis is up and coming, if you don't believe me then look at the lower oil pan, the intake manifold and the control arms all for the s chassis. alot of people like to knock them based on something that happened to a guy a friend knew on the local forum.... well f that guy. this turbo is great. all you have to do is put it in, break it in and see for yourself.

  8. 3871 great

I had this turbo for almost a year now still running strong. At 10 psi Smoked a 2011 evo. Right now have it at 20 psi an man it pulls so strong on a s13 red top

  9. 9 psi 255 whp 265tq

Posted by Sanjay on 18th Jul 2012

Awesome turbo for the price, was on the dyno with my 9:1 KA with the wastegate at stock position it puts out about 9-10 psi which netted me 255hp and 265tq.....i was shooting for over 300 at 15psi which would have been easy judging from how the turbo was responding to the tuning...but my clutch gave out...boost builds from about 3300rpm but HITS at around 3700 rpm....but it really hauls ass till the top. Worth every penny...BTW the isis Clutch line is perfect bolt on fitment for oil feed.
