ThreeBond was established May, 1955 in Tokyo Japan by Osamu Ukumori. While stopped at a traffic light he noticed two puddles of fluid leaking from a nearby car, oil and water. With a vision to help the environment and reduce waste, he invented the first liquid gasket and ThreeBond was born.

Liquid gaskets were developed based on a theory entirely different than that of solid gaskets. The sealant is applied to the flange as a liquid and is cured after the parts are mated together, forming a bond that utilizes adhesion as well as compression. This technology allows for far greater flexibility in design because compression torque is de-emphasized in the sealing process. Liquid gaskets create a better seal at a lower cost then conventional sheet gaskets.

ThreeBond supplies various formulations of their RTV to a majority of the OE auto manufacturers worldwide for use on their assembly lines. The Grey RTV product is specified in most service manuals by its part number, so you know it meets the specifications required by the big auto manufacturers. You have most likely used the ThreeBond Grey RTV already, you just didn’t know it. This is because they supply many different versions under many different names. But the ThreeBond brand name is always the newest formulation with the most updated technology which will meet or surpass the quality of the OE specified version.

VEHICLE APPLICATION
Recommended for all engine applications:
-Sealant is compatible with all synthetic, synthetic blend, and mineral oils, as well as coolants including DEX-COOL
-Assembly may be filled with oil or coolant immediately after applying the sealant and torquing all bolts
-Maximum working time of sealant is 20 minutes
-Sealant will fully cure in 24 hours

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Surface should be free of residual fluids such as oil and coolant, as well as detergent residues. Joints should be closed within 20 minutes of sealant application. Final tightening should be done within one hour of sealant application and joint closure.
